We are looking for an editor to join the Creative team in our dynamic company. In this role, you will work with a team of editors in the creation of print and digital media across multiple brands, collaborating with executives to produce compelling, high-quality features. You will conduct interviews and write features on a regular basis for all of our brands. The editor position requires regular interviewing and writing, as well as working within a team to produce several magazines published in print and online, and helping the team to manage the growth of voice, editorial structure, content diversification, and brand development.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with senior editor and fellow editors to create products that exceed client expectations
  • Interviews top executive clients and writes profile articles for multiple brands
  • Leads freelance writers to create effective products
  • Meets all publication deadlines
  • Efficiently edits all content according to Chicago Manual of Style and in-house style guides
  • Collaborates with clients to create custom editorial solutions
  • Collaborates with designers and photo editor to marry editorial content and design, producing the most effective layout for each feature
  • Works with editorial team to publish features to the web, create e-newsletters that engage our audience, manage social media accounts, and other online projects as assigned
  • Continually improves the editorial vision of the magazines so that they effectively engage their target audiences
  • Collaborates with the Sales team to drive processes for engaging past, current, and future clients
  • Ensures the freelance writing budget is maintained
  • Effectively handles client-facing communication with excellent customer service
  • Complies with established company work rules, policies, and procedures
  • Actively engages with other members of the company to continuously strive to improve processes, create efficiencies, and reduce cost
  • Cooperatively takes on other duties, roles, or responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Media, Journalism, English, or a related field
  • At least two years of editorial experience at a publication
  • A demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others
  • Prior experience assigning stories to other writers and editing others’ work
  • A demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • A demonstrated ability to generate creative ideas in an environment of aggressive growth
  • Excellent editing skills
  • Excellent interviewing and writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple deadlines and challenging workloads
  • Demonstrated ability to write efficiently without sacrificing quality
  • Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style guidelines a plus
